CONGRESSIONAL
INVESTIGATIONS
Data visualization
For my final project, I chose to create a data visualization piece on 15 of the most influential Congressional investigations in history.
Congressional investigations represent one of the most powerful and consequential tools in American democracy. These investigations have shaped public opinion, ended political careers, led to landmark reforms, and even brought down a president. This project explores a data-driven look into the history and impact of 15 major congressional investigations, chosen for their impact on American governance, policy, and culture.
The data combines both qualitative historical analysis and quantitative ranking metrics. Due to the lack of information, some of the data was estimated, marked with a star (*). Rankings were determined through a combination of personal historical knowledge and consultation with multiple large language models (LLMs) and ranked from a scale of 1-5.
Each investigation is visualized as a set of geometric and abstract forms, ordered on a vertical timeline, to help patterns emerge. Please refer to the key to see what each shape, form and color represents.
I created this piece into forms, a poster as well as an interactive page that you can view below.
